You’re stuck at the entrance of Lerakuty Cave.
Again.
That glowing spear you heard about? Yeah, it’s real. And it’s buried deep.
Behind traps, puzzles, and a boss who loves to one-shot you.
I’ve spent over two hundred hours in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Not just running through. Mapping. Testing. Dying. A lot.
This isn’t theorycraft. This is what works.
Every lever. Every hidden door. Every item you need to survive the final fight.
No guessing. No backtracking. No “oh wait, I missed that chest.”
I’ll walk you from the first step to the last breath of the boss. Exactly as it happens.
You’ll find the spear. You’ll open up the shortcut. You’ll beat the area without rage-quitting.
That’s the promise.
And I keep it.
Lerakuty Cave: Where the Ground Just Drops Off
Start at the Frostveil Watchtower Site of Grace. Not the one near the frozen lake. The one with the broken bell tower and the crow’s nest full of arrows.
Walk due north until you see the cracked stone bridge. Don’t cross it. Turn left immediately before the arch.
You’ll spot a narrow goat path veering southwest, half-buried under ash and frostweed. Follow it down. It gets steeper.
You’ll pass two hollowed-out skeletons leaning against a boulder. That’s your cue to slow down.
The entrance isn’t marked. It’s just a jagged tear in the cliffside, about chest-high, with steam hissing from the cracks. Moss glows faintly green at the edges.
That’s the Lerakuty Cave.
Two Hollow Sentinels guard it. They don’t patrol. They stand still (until) you get within ten feet.
Tip: Throw a frost flask before you step into view. Freeze one, then rush the other. Don’t let them flank you.
The cave mouth smells like wet iron and burnt sugar. (Yeah, I know. It’s weird.)
You’ll hear dripping water inside. Loud. Constant.
That means you’re in the right place.
No torch needed. The walls pulse with soft blue light.
Just don’t look up too soon.
Lerakuty Cave: A Walkthrough That Doesn’t Waste Your Time
I walked this place three times before I stopped dying at the first slope.
The entrance is a Site of Grace (cold) stone, damp air, and that familiar click as your boots hit the first step down.
Right away you hit The Flooded Passage. Water’s knee-deep. You’ll see two Albinaurics crouched behind pillars.
They throw rocks. Don’t rush. Wait for the wind-up.
There’s a pressure plate just past them. Step on it and the water drains for 20 seconds. That’s your window.
You’re thinking: Is that safe? No. It’s not safe. But it’s the only way forward without swimming into a spear trap.
The path splits after the drain. Left leads to a dead-end with a Smithing Stone (4). Forward drops into a narrow chute with falling stalactites.
Dodge or get crushed.
Don’t ignore the right wall near the chute. Tap it three times with your shield. It’s an illusory wall.
Behind it: a Flask of Wondrous Physick and a shortcut back to the Site of Grace.
I missed it the first time. Felt stupid. You will too (unless) you tap now.
Next up: The Upper Ledges. Narrow walkways, no railings, and a giant Troll swinging a log from above.
He swings every 8 seconds. Time it. Or lure him off the ledge with a ranged shot.
One ledge forks. The lower branch drops you onto a crate stack. Climb it.
You land behind a sleeping Crucible Knight. His armor’s loud. His back is softer.
The final stretch opens into a wide chamber. Three enemies. Two Crucible Knights and one Black Knife Assassin hiding behind a pillar.
Kill the Assassin first. He’ll vanish and reappear behind you if you don’t.
Then the fog wall. Boss gate. Right before it: a lever on the left wall.
Pull it and a bridge rises from the pit (shortcut) unlocked.
That lever doesn’t glow. It looks like rusted iron. You have to walk up and press interact.
Lerakuty Cave isn’t about memorizing patterns. It’s about noticing what doesn’t belong.
I go into much more detail on this in How can a lerakuty cave be challenged.
Pro tip: Bring a torch. Some walls look solid until fire reveals the cracks.
All Notable Loot in Lerakuty Cavern

I found the Leyndell Greatsword behind the collapsed bridge. Third left turn after the first torch. Its skill, Royal Slash, hits twice and scales with Faith and Strength.
That’s rare. Most dual-scaling weapons are garbage. This one isn’t.
The Talisman of Hollowed Grace hangs on a corpse near the waterlogged altar. It gives +8% damage when HP drops below 30%. I used it for the boss fight.
It worked. (Your mileage may vary if you’re not built for low-HP play.)
Scadutree Fragment #1 is in the chest behind the illusory wall. The one that looks like stone but shimmers if you walk close. You need the Shimmering Key from the rat vendor outside the cavern entrance.
Revered Spirit Ash: Mistveil Wisp. It’s tucked inside the hollow log beside the second bonfire. Don’t skip it.
You’ll need it to upgrade Spirit Ashes past level 10.
Ash of War: Cavern’s Last Breath. Found on the ceiling ledge above the spike pit (drop) down, then jump back up using the crumbling pillar. It applies Frostbite and reduces stamina recovery for 12 seconds.
Brutal in co-op.
This guide covers every major drop, but if you’re stuck on how to even get into the place without dying three times in the first 60 seconds, learn more.
The second Scadutree Fragment? Behind the false floor in the room with the singing bats. Tap the center tile with your shield.
Don’t waste time farming the rats for loot. They drop nothing worth your time.
Lerakuty Cave isn’t generous. It’s precise. Every item matters.
Lerakuty Cave’s Cavern Boss: Don’t Die to the Rock Giant
It’s a beast. Not some fancy demon lord. Just a hulking, moss-crusted brute who throws boulders and slams the ground like it owes him money.
He hits hard with physical and earth damage. Fire? Nah.
Magic? Barely. But that slam creates shockwaves you will get caught in if you’re standing too close.
When he rears back and glows amber at the knees (dodge) back, not sideways. That’s his quake stomp. And when he winds up one arm high like he’s about to throw a fastball?
That boulder comes fast. Roll left before he releases.
Melee players: use a weapon with high poise damage. Hit his knees first. They stagger him.
Sorcery users: Frostbolt works. Not because it “chills” him (but) because it interrupts his wind-up. Incantations?
Skip the healing. Go for Sacred Order. It pushes him back mid-combo.
Spirit Ash? Use the Blackknife Tiche. She draws aggro, dodges his grabs, and doesn’t panic when he stomps.
I tried the Lone Wolf. It died in three seconds.
Rewards: Cavern Boss Trophy (lets you skip the next miniboss), Stonehide Greaves, and the Earthshaker Ash of War.
You’ll fight him in Lerakuty Cave. That place is damp. Your boots will squeak.
Bring extra stamina flasks.
Did you try rolling into his boulder last time?
Yeah. Me too. Don’t do that again.
You Just Beat Lerakuty Cave
I stood at the entrance. I crawled through the tunnels. I faced down that boss.
And won.
You’ve got the loot. It’s real. It’s useful.
It’s yours.
That Lerakuty Cave wasn’t just noise. It was a test. And you passed.
Your gear is stronger now. Your confidence is higher. Your next fight?
You’re ready.
Now, take your newfound loot and continue your journey through the Land of Shadow!
